More New Website Goodies

August 19, 2009

I just wanted to let folks know that in addition to the new design that went up earlier this week, we also put up some new content.  The Blacksmithing and Cooking guides were both updated for WotLK.  Also, we put a new version of TradeTrak on Curse.com and WoWInterface.  The new TradeTrak has all the 3.2 recipes except for dungeon drops, it now matches the current web site lists.  Make sure you get the newest copy! Crafter’s Tome Gets a Facelift!

August 16, 2009

That’s right folks, we are very excited to debut a new look for the Crafter’s Tome web site.  Our old look was a bit tired, in addition to some layout problems that we wanted to address.  So we put our heads together and came up with a new design.  Most of the credit goes to my hubby Mikros for coming up with the core concept and doing all the hard work to make it happen :)

Cardinal Ruby Quest, Part 2

August 10, 2009

I’m sure many of you finished up the Cardinal Ruby quest this weekend, as did I.  One thing we learned for those who are still working on it, is that Lizzy does not take your gems from you.  This means you can transmute any gem you like, not just the cheap junk.  The second thing we learned is that the quest is counting the act of transmutation, not the resulting product.  As we’ve discussed in our comment area, Tranmute procs do not give you a leg up for this quest.  No matter what happens, the quest will take five days to finish.  We also learned that the quest is a tad buggy, so be sure all of your transmutes get counted.  If you run into a problem, contact a GM asap!

More on Farming Jeeves

August 6, 2009

This morning my first task was to work on Engineering, since I spent the first night of the patch doing Alchemy and Jewelcrafting.  First my Engineer needed to learn the new recipes, then make a Wormhole Generator.  Once that was done, I immediately portalled myself to Ulduar to try farming the Jeeves recipe.

Cardinal Ruby Quest for Alchemists

August 5, 2009

I had hoped to have good new for you all today, but sadly I do not.  Yesterday I picked up the Cardinal Ruby quest, as I’m sure you did.  Despite the truly horrific lag and lack of mail service on my server, I transferred appropriate mats to my Alchemist for all of her transmutation needs.  She did her first transmute after picking up the quest and got credit for one transmute.  Then I had Kaliope buy her another gem from the badge vendor to see if that might also count.  Sadly, it did not.  She has two epic gems in her bags, but she still only has credit for one.

3.2 Patch – Inc!!

August 4, 2009

I’m just twiddling my thumbs, waiting for the servers to come back up.  Well actually, I have some additional database changes I need to make now that the 3.2 content is here, so I’ll probably work on that while I wait.  But I’m noticing that WoW.com is doing a ton of these “3.2 Guide to XXX” posts.  Normally I wouldn’t jump on this bandwagon… but we’re bored right.  So I decided I’d take a stab at 3.2 for Professions:

Preliminary Jeeves Farming Report

July 30, 2009

In our last post we talked about the new re-speccing process and how we’ll be able to easily switch between Goblin and Gnomish specialties.  Another big addition to our toy chest in the next patch is Jeeves.  I have to tell you, I was seriously excited when I read about this.  Not because of the functionality – no no.  I just want my own personal manservant and it doesn’t get any better than a Jeeves.

Changing Engineering Specs in Patch 3.2

July 28, 2009

So Engineers are FINALLY getting the ability to change specializations in Patch 3.2. I believe this is the last profession to be given  this option, and it’s at least a year overdue compared to other tradeskills. But what does this actually entail?  The patch notes say nothing about who/when/where. Don’t you love it when Blizzard adds a new feature and neglects to include any details on the subject? I know I do ;)

Those who can’t do… fake it

July 27, 2009

Ok, so I have no actual news to report.  No new investigations or anything exciting like that.  But I still want to put posts up so I’m going to delve into seldom-charted territory.  I’ll just share something that I personally found entertaining.  I know that we get our weekly infusion of WoW comics and WoWInsider makes sure we don’t miss any bit of news that’s even mildly relevant to WoW. Even so, just happened across this on Wired and thought I’d share:

Sam Raimi’s Warcraft Movie Production Diary

3.2 Recipes + Updated First Aid

July 25, 2009

Hey all – sorry for the long delay in posts!  I’ve been recovering from my trip and getting caught up on web site work.  We just put up the new 3.2 recipes for Jewelcrafting, Alchemy and Engineering.  Make sure you select “Test Realm” if you want to see just 3.2 recipes.  The items aren’t fully working yet because the WoWHead 3.2 data isn’t live, but everything is in place for when that happens.  All of the new recipes are there and the information should be current as of the most recent build.  No promises on the epic gem transmutes… we’re on the 3rd revision of mats for them rofl!

Also, I’ve updated our First Aid guide to include Lich King information as well as the recent change to trainers.  The First Aid recipe list has also been updated to match.  I’ll be spending the summer doing clean-up on the site while we have this lull in WoW action.  Hopefully 3.2 will come out soon and liven things up, eh?
