Enchanting list – now filter by slot!

I’m very excited to announce that Mikros has just added the ability to view Enchanting recipes by slot to our recipe list on Crafter’s Tome.  This is a feature I’ve never seen before on a WoW site and yet have desperately wanted to have for a long time.  Check it out and tell us what you think:

I love the site, and tell all the tradesfolk I know about it. You’ve done a lot of great work, but many of the sections are still missing many drop recipes that could be easily researched from Allakhazams. Yjos sote could easily become the predominant tradskill info site for the game, and if you had complete info that would be a giant step in that direction.

Great job, and keep up the good work.

    Hi Bomb,

You’re right – my site does not have the various drop recipes that Alla and Thott have. This is an intentional decision on my part due to the significant number of errors in their data carried over from the Beta. I manually research all my recipes to ensure that they are as accurate as possible. At this point I’d prefer not to perpetuate known mistakes that the big guys have yet to clean up. I know how frustrating it is to desperately search for a recipe or vendor that doesn’t exist (Bernard the Mixer anyone?). Part of the goal of my site is to correct the rampant misinformation that the other sites create with misleading posts and multiple vendors for the same item rare item, etc. I personally visit every vendor to confirm their wares before I post. I’ve taken screenshots of every new drop recipe in BC.

In order to beef up my information as much as possible I visit the auction every day looking for new recipes. I also rely on my users to send in screenshots of the BoP recipes they find. So far we’re getting 2-3 submissions a week that way which helps fill in the gaps. I know that my data is lagging behind the big sites, but I’d like to think that my users understand the reasoning behind it and take comfort knowing that when I post it, they can count on it being right and not vaporware =)

Well, you can pretty much assure that any enchanting recipe you see on Allakhazam that shows 2000-5000 kills next to the mobs name is a live and currently dropped recipe. For instance, the two blue BoP cloak enchants for shadow and arcane resists do drop off the mobs they list. I got both tonight. Between the kill counts, and player comments it’s pretty apparent which are the valid drops.

I love your search engine and page layout from the search results. The mouseover ability is a huge convenience too.

This is true, I probably could do that. At this stage it would be a ton of work to try and sift through the various recipe lists on Thott/Alla and separate out the bad eggs. At this point I’m confident we’ll have our database fleshed out before too long through user submissions. Plus this way we can create more community involvement so everyone feels like they are a part of what makes Crafter’s Tome special :)

Enchant List is great – Where can I get the update with Slot Filter Option? And, is there a mod like this but for Alchemy?

  6. kaliope Says:

Zorej: The update is on the web site, you just need to click the “type” tab on the Enchanting recipe list to see the new filtering options :) Alchemy has the same new feature, although not quite as useful since most items are consumables.

I’d like to see an enchant filter by buff, i.e. +stam, +defense, +healing, etc.

  8. Matty Says:

Hi! i love the site but wish i could filter the enchanting recipe’s by STAT
eg. i want to know all the recipe’s that boost AGI
could this be a possible developement?

  9. Matty Says:

ummm as i just realised brad has asked my question just before me…. lol
    my bad

Hi Matty/Brad: At this time our database doesn’t support sorting by item stats, since we don’t actually save the item information in our database. We pull it live from Wowhead so it’s always current, the downside being that we can’t utilize it for our own purposes at this time. Thanks for the suggestion tho, I’ll put that in our feature request list for a possible future update :)
