Last week I found a couple of web sites that really peaked my interest. In fact, I kind of wish I’d known about them prior to the 3.1 patch. One has been around quite awhile: WarcraftRealms. This site collects population statistics for all servers and you can filter based on a number of criteria. What does this have to do with crafting? Well if you’re a crafter, it helps to know what classes are more popular than others. I mean, you could use your personal observations if you like. But for those who prefer facts and figures, you can check WarcraftRealms instead.

Yes, hubby and I spent several hours last night poring over the screenshots from our beta helpers and making modifications to the web site in order to release two sets of new recipes for you guys. You’ll notice that we’ve added a new option to the “Expansion” filter, which let’s you show just the WotLK recipes. We also added a gray color to the WotLK items themselves, so you can visually distinguish them from “live” recipes if you have a mixed list. Many of the items do not have icons or hover text, this is just a shortcoming of the data we have access to and we’ll work to fix that as soon as we can. For items that were unique in nature, I put the item description in the Notes.
New patch notes have been posted recently from the PTR and I’ve just copied my own characters to the Test Realm to analyze them more fully. Some are pretty obvious, so I thought I’d share my thoughts on these in the interim:
- All 23-hour profession cooldowns are now 20-hour cooldowns.
- All 4-day cooldowns are now 3 days, 20 hours.
The test server has been quite a challenge for me this time out, the character copies were down for close to a week and now that I’m finally there, the lag is beyond horrible. Plus, I couldn’t find the new quartermaster the first day, despite a good hour of looking. I finally located him on the second day and got some screenshots for you, but then my copy of Photoshop 6 died a ghastly death and I’ve been trying to figure out how to get the images in a blog-friendly format. Thank goodness Adobe has trial downloads on their site, or who knows how long I would have been stuck :) Now I’m finally ready to share what I’ve collected so far, woot!
I haven’t written for a while, I know. My previous poem sums it up — there’s just not much going on. Some raiding, some dungeon runs, some dailies. Nothing new or exciting in the WoWverse.
I finally got around to locating the other new recipes on the test server, and there are some interesting changes. First, they’ve decided to move the Enchant Ring – Stats recipe from the Scale of the Sands vendor to the Lower City vendor. Apparently they want more players to have this recipe, at least that would be my guess as to why they moved this to an easier faction vendor.
I know I’ve been remiss in getting the 2.2 information out there, but I’ve finally collected enough data from the PTR to justify a post. Unfortunately the recipe items when I first arrived had no mats/stats listed. Not terribly helpful.
I arrived home on Saturday to discover that we had Patch Notes out for 2.2 — and here I had no idea we had a new patch on the horizon! I’ve been working over the weekend to locate all the changed items and update my database, but I haven’t completed the review yet. I didn’t want to leave you guys in suspense though, so I thought I’d post my initial observations. (more…)
I’m very excited to announce that Mikros has just added the ability to view Enchanting recipes by slot to our recipe list on Crafter’s Tome. This is a feature I’ve never seen before on a WoW site and yet have desperately wanted to have for a long time. Check it out and tell us what you think:
