A few of you have commented on the missing Goldthorn Tea and if you’ve followed the patch notes, you know that Blizz promised to fix that in 2.3.2. Well we got our 2.3.2 patch on Tuesday, so I’d been planning to visit good old Henry Stern in Razorfen Downs. Last night I finally managed to trek out to the Barrens and wander through the dungeon to find him. Previously if you visited him while the recipe was broken, you only got his “end” dialog. I know this because I went to visit him before they implemented the fix, what can I say… I was a bit confused on when the fix was going to happen
But now he actually allows you to learn the recipe and you can go back to him and re-acquire it if you want to do so. I think this recipe is only of interest to the “collector” types out there who want to have every recipe for their profession. It’s a run-of-the-mill mana regen drink for mid-level players, nothing special about it. But I know there are folks who are unhappy they lost it, so I can confirm that it’s back.

Yesterday I was thrilled to discover that they fixed my beloved gas clouds during the maintenance, even though they didn’t release the 2.3.2 patch yet. Hey, I don’t care how I got it, I’m gonna take it! So now I’m back in business farming motes for my warrior’s epic flying mount.

The other day I finally got a blue cooking recipe from the daily quest - Stormchops! For those who aren’t familiar with this item, it gives you a “proc” style lightning effect that lasts for 30 minutes after you eat one. Not that this is terribly useful, I think it falls more into the fun category. Still, it’s a rare recipe and I’m happy to have it. The tough part comes when you are ready to make them. It requires a clefthoof meat + a lightning eel.

I have been diligently doing the Cooking quests every day on the test realm, trying to get the purported “pet food” recipe. I even got my hunter in on the action, thinking perhaps it would increase my odds of receiving that recipe. If nothing else I suppose 2 toons running the quest was increasing my overall odds, but I doubt that being a hunter helps because I finally got the recipe today on my druid. (more…)

Day 1: I located the new quest-giver “The Rokk” (he’s in the Lower City between the Arakkoa tower and the Infirmary) and received a cooking task from him to collect 8 mana berries from the eco-domes in Netherstorm. (more…)

I don’t know if anyone else has investigated the new 2.1.2 recipes that were added last week, but I finally got around to it a few days ago. These are some interesting items, but part of me is still trying to puzzle out the logic behind the additions. First we have Stewed Trout, which uses the same fish as the existing recipe for Blackened Trout. It seems strange to add a new recipe for a component that had an existing recipe, even if it did create a rather uninspiring food. (more…)

With the Burning Crusade upon us, Cooking has been expanded to a new cap of 375. Even more importantly, new buff foods have been added that not only help with the new level grind but are sure to become staples of the raider’s repertoire. Luckily Blizzard has made it quite easy to level Cooking — to a point. (more…)
