This weekend I decided to get serious about the Ragesteel Shoulders farming project in the hopes that the frenzy window wasn’t totally closed. I spent about 60 minutes the first day farming Enraged Air Spirits, then I switched to Enraged Fire Spirits for another 30 minutes. I gave up for the day at that point and was kind of on the fence about whether to continue.

So yesterday I finally hit 375 in Blacksmithing - woot!!! I have to say I’m quite happy that I no longer have to farm Primal Fire. Now that I’ve leveled all the secondary professions except Tailoring and Alchemy (which I hear is easy) I think I’d have to vote for Blacksmithing as the worst. I mean, the leather farming was pretty annoying I grant you. But farming Primal Fire or Primal Air has to be the top two worst tasks in the current game. The normal spots are always camped, so it’s near impossible to even get an area to yourself. I had a slight advantage in that I am 3 time zones off of my server, so I took advantage of that. But for folks who can’t work the time thing, I pity you

Sorry, couldn’t resist that title! I know you’ll forgive me, rofl. So I took Korlyn (my Blacksmithing hunter) out to Shadowmoon Valley this past week. She’s was at level 68 and I need to farm lots of Primal Fire to grind my final smithing points. Aside from being unable to fly, Korlyn does pretty well surviving in SMV. I’ve also been working on some quests there to help her level up, she actually just dinged 69 last night.

Since I knew going into it that I would be sucking up a ton of materials, I planned very carefully to traverse the path of least resistance.

I’ve been getting some questions and comments about how to change specialties and have been thinking for months about doing a write-up on this. Unfortunately I really didn’t have any toons that I felt needed the change. And sorry, I didn’t feel like blowing 200g just so I could change to something else and have to pay again to change back. I like you guys… but not that much. (more…)

Well I had a whole second day of no beta time, which is really impeding my ability to get recipes online for Crafter’s Tome. Out of boredom I downloaded the patch for the live server. I noticed that the patch notes said they completely wiped the specialties for Leatherworking and Blacksmithing. So I spent most of this evening investigating that.
For you smiths out there, I updated our Blacksmithing list with all of today’s changes, as well as all the trainer recipes for each specialty. So I believe our blacksmithing list is pretty complete now. (more…)
